Responsibilities

Paid Internships at Production Resource Group are educational work experiences for individuals who wish to explore a career with PRG and/or develop hands-on knowledge and skill in the business of entertainment technology. PRG provides structured yet flexible programs where interns rotate through the various functions of a particular discipline, giving them a comprehensive overview of the different aspects of the field.

 

 

The initial internship period is 12 weeks.  Upon the successful completion of the initial internship period, the intern may be given the opportunity to extend for another 12 week period for further experience and training. 

 

The initial 12 week Summer Program runs approximately *Mid to late May- Beg/Mid-August (*dates may vary) , with the second 12 week program to follow consecutively.

 

Each PRG Shop/Production Intern will:

 

  • Gain hands-on experience in the technical and operational aspects of our business. 
  • Rotate throughout the departments for cross training requirements of the branch to gain experience in several departments and various equipment. Departments may include: Lighting, LED, Audio, Video, Monitors, Screens, Projection, Inbound, Outbound etc., depending on the location.   
  • Receive an in-depth understanding of responsibilities throughout the shop based upon position 
  • Gain knowledge of production equipment through processes such as check in/out, prepping, kitting, and organizing equipment  
  • Participate in projects which may include physical inventory, rack builds, and other client specific requests.  
  • Work with PRG equipment in show preparation environments, alongside the touring crews that are on the road with PRG's current list of tours.  
  • Learn best practices, tips, and tricks from experienced technicians in lighting, video, and audio, as they work as a team to prep a show for the road, including tasks such as assembling truss, hanging all types of lighting, reading lighting plots and paperwork, addressing and labeling units, running power and data cables, working with power distribution and networking equipment, and troubleshooting.  
  • If business operations allow, interns may have the opportunity to visit and work in show site environments alongside event crews, when possible and subject to scheduling at that time of the internship.  
  • Work with mentors to assess areas of interest for career development during their program. 
  • Upon the successful completionof the internship and all training assigned, the intern will become eligible for deployment through PRG’s Showpay. 

Qualifications

We are looking for applicants who meet/exceed these qualifications:

  • Must be attentive and willing to learn new skills and processes above and beyond their area of expertise. 
  • Strong communication skills, motivated and punctual. 
  • Previous knowledge, training, schooling, or experience in: Audio, Lighting, A/V, Video, LED, Rigging, Media Servers, or other entertainment fields of expertise is preferred. 
  • Ability to work in emails and with computers is a must.
  • Willing to perform other incidental tasks as needed at the direction of the Operations Management team. 
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the country where the internship is located. 
  • For internships in the US, students must pass a drug test prior to employment.  
  • Must have passport and be eligible for travel to Canada.  
  • Must be graduating or have graduated by the first date of the internship. 

We are looking for applicants who match the following: 

  • Have a minimum of 1 year experience working in an appropriate background in the entertainment technology industry 
  • Experience with technology specializing in any of our disciplines or a complementary field 

Physical demands 

  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. 
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects
