Supervisory responsibilities
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing various positions within the logistics team and ensuring appropriate processes and procedures are followed to promote efficiency and maximize the benefit for PRG.
Summary/objective
The Logistics Manager analyzes transportation patterns, needs, and resources to drive efficient transportation flow promoting customer focused service and cost reduction for the assigned facilities and national supply chain. They will promote transportation vendor relationships and work on the rate and spot quote negotiations for PRG 3rd party transportation. They will manage the booking of freight for PRG’s dedicated lanes and truckload shipments. The Logistics Manager will act as the single point of contact for truckload transportation and manage shipments from booking to PO closure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience working in a Windows based technical environment
- Must be willing to work in different shifts, as needed, to cover hours of operation.
- Experience compiling and interpreting data.
Essential functions
- Conducts research, develops supporting data and reports the findings to management encompassing all transportation related activities affecting assigned facilities/supply chain.
- Provides guidance to managers on questions regarding transportation policies, procedures, transportation and expense guidelines and transportation regulatory issues
- Takes responsibility for network-wide service monitoring and enforcement for assigned carriers
- Analyze methods to improve transportation efficiency through collaboration with operating departments, data analysis and visits to new and existing operations
- Provides expedited routings for shipments which have mandatory delivery dates not obtainable through normal service
- Support Vendor Selection and price negotiations and maintain carrier relationships
- Performs network-wide studies and analysis as directed by the VP, National Logistics.
- Coordinates and directs inbound and outbound transportation functions for assigned facilities and network and maintaining efficient transportation scheduling for the operations department.
- Coordinates White Glove Service for show site deliveries, including managing the quote, booking and customer service functions for assigned projects.
- Works with Operations Shipping teams and Management to drive efficient execution of all transportation related functions
- Oversees the dedicated routes for assigned Regions
- Works as assigned by VP, National Logistics or Executive Leadership to coordinate network-wide programs or perform studies.
- Formulates new transportation related programs, procedures and forms with the procedure’s writers, other transportation management, IT, and Leadership
- Management Vendor relationship with 3rd party carriers and participates in rate negotiations
- Review vendor invoices/charges and provide data to departments (trying to encompass reviewing what PRG is charged, correcting mistakes, notifying appropriate parties, creating billing files for AP)

- Able to work varying schedules based upon volume and number of resources. Can include weekend coverage.
