Responsibilities

The Service & Repair Manager – Audio Console Focus is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the in-house repair, maintenance, and quality control of professional audio consoles and associated systems. This role ensures that high-end audio equipment is maintained to manufacturer and company standards and functions reliably in mission-critical environments. The manager will oversee the repair lifecycle, coordinate resources, manage parts and supplies, and deliver outstanding support to both internal teams and external clients.

 

Essential Functions

  • Diagnose, service, and repair digital and analog audio consoles and related equipment such as stage boxes, control surfaces, and DSP systems.
  • Establish and oversee maintenance protocols and repair standards for all audio console inventory.
  • Inspect and evaluate audio equipment flagged for repair, and determine whether to repair in-house or outsource.
  • Manage and track all internal and client-related audio equipment damage and repair records.
  • Maintain and reconcile the Repair and Parts budget for the audio department.
  • Source and purchase technical supplies, spare parts, and tools required for audio console maintenance.
  • Provide remote and onsite support as needed, including participating in occasional after-hours emergency support needs.
  • Test, configure, and document audio console setups during client preps or internal QA.
  • Interface with manufacturers and vendors for technical support, firmware updates, and repair authorizations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced technical knowledge of professional audio consoles and digital audio systems (e.g., Dante, AVB, MADI).
  • Proficient in reading schematics, diagnosing circuit-level issues, and performing component-level repair.
  • Familiar with common console platforms such as DiGiCo, Yamaha, Avid, Allen & Heath, etc.
  • Excellent prioritization skills; able to manage multiple service tickets and deadlines in a high-demand environment.
  • Strong budgeting awareness and ability to manage repair-related expenses.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to creatively solve complex technical issues under time constraints.
  • Skilled in fostering cross-departmental communication and technical documentation.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and leadership abilities.
  • Calm and resourceful under pressure with a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Proven supervisory skills and the ability to develop junior technicians or apprentices.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and manual tool use.
  • Must possess fine motor control and strong visual acuity for detailed work (e.g., soldering, circuit inspection).

Other Duties

  • Assist with test setups, firmware updates, and configuration of audio consoles for client use.
  • Support other team members with technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and peak season overtime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in professional audio console repair and maintenance.
  • Technical degree or vocational certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Audio Technology preferred.
  • Proficient with email, spreadsheets, and asset management systems; familiarity with CAD or signal flow diagrams is a plus.
  • Experience with inventory and repair tracking software is strongly preferred.
