Responsibilities

The Automation Controls Integrator is instrumental in the prep, tuning, programming, training, set up, installation and supervision of PRG’s proprietary Stage Command Automation System.  The Stage Command System is a custom designed Automated Theatrical Control System that initiates, monitors, and sequences complex movement of scenic elements found in a theatrical environment. The Automation Controls Integrator assists the Automation department in setting up the systems and is also able to take the system onsite and provide leadership, supervision, training, troubleshooting, and programming of the SCS system for all size automation projects.  Additionally, the Automation Controls Integrator participates in research and development of our proprietary systems, and provides show support for all ongoing automation projects.

 

Training on PRG proprietary systems will be provided.

 

Essential functions:

  • Integrate both small and large platform theatrical control equipment in house and in the theatre.
  • Safely operate and train personnel in the proper use of the Stage Command Systems (SCS)..
  • The ability to cue the movement of scenic elements via the SCS Operator Interface.
  • Act as the mechanical/automation representative on client sites
    • While onsite, the Automation Controls Integrator will be responsible for working with and supervising production automation leads and local crews on the safe standards, procedures and practices of the use and running of PRG’s Automated effects.
    • While onsite the ACI will work with the designated onsite Production Automation department to create schedules, safe working environments, proper set up, and procedures to ensure a successful show.
    • The ACI will establish clear communication procedures to ensure that the Automation equipment is properly set up, run, and maintained throughout the production period.
  • Assemble, label, and install electric wiring harnesses and control components into in-house designed control cabinets and scenic sets.
  • Assist in identifying and acquiring the necessary material identified in detailed design drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical failures and control problems.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of setting up, testing, troubleshooting, installing, programming, and running Live Events Automated Control systems.
  • The ability to solder, crimp, and terminate electrical wires.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to deliver technical training, including to non-technicians.
  • Knowledge of integrated data networking

Physical demands: 

  • Physically capable of lifting and coiling cable as well as lifting and placing industrial control components.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends with limited notice.

Travel required: 

  • Varies but can be extensive at times. Up to 26 weeks per year
  • Must be able to travel to both domestic and international venues.

Preferred education and experience: 

  • 2+ years prior working experience of industrial automation control systems and/or automated systems in the live events industry
  • 1-2+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge and experience of theatre production required.
  • Experience delivering technical training.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Bachelors degree in theatrical design technology is a plus

The pay range for this position is estimated to be $95,000.00-120,000.00. Actual salary to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant combined with location and alignment with market data
