Responsibilities

Seeking candidates with at least 3 years of experience in theatrical technical direction, scenic production management, and/or live event project management specializing in scenic construction. Highly qualified candidates will have experience managing scenic projects and the ability to direct the technical, financial and administrative process. 

 

The Project Manager has responsibility for the planning and execution of events and/or entertainment projects in theatrical production. The work involves considerable client contact with an emphasis on providing project services tailor made to the client’s vision. This employee may make or participate in the sale and may also execute projects generated by another sales person or group. The work includes the determination of product/gear, construction and service/labor specifications as well as design support of relevant operational plans.  

  • Prepares and defines scope of work with client; to include budget, project schedule, work flow, internal resource requirements, concept designs and layouts.
  • Ability to manage shows with target up to $4 million.
  • Consults with and troubleshoot client’s unresolved aesthetic design and technology issues.
  • Execute on-site production and manage show labor as required and assigned. Timely and accurate submission of all new hire paperwork and timesheets is required.
  • Provides a reasonable balance between the client’s creative needs and the company’s profitability.
  • Works in collaboration with Sales in order to generate and amend quotes and interface with financial operations to facilitate client billing.
  • Interfaces with operation department to ensure all design and quality goals are met.
  • Interface with other PRG Operations and Sales staff as required. May be assigned to perform PM functions to support other depot sales efforts.
  • Identifies and explores all future revenue possibilities with client. Identify and promote future sales opportunities and new clients through networking and on-site interaction.
  • Communicates as assigned relative to project status and performance.
  • Interfaces with other PRG Depot Operations and Sales staff as required. May be assigned to perform PM functions to support other depot sales efforts.
  • Promote job site safety and investigates all safety and reliability concerns. This is a safety sensitive position, a job or position where the employee holding this role has the responsibility for his/her own safety and the safety of other persons. An employee has to be alert and with clear mind and diligent while occupying such positions.
  • Plans and builds labor calls in conjunction with the relevant Labor Coordinators
  • Responsible for management of PRG’s Change Order Policy with clients
  • May be required to participate in client presentations.
  • Some travel required.

 

Supervisory responsibilities

Works with Scenic Sales, and Operations to assist the supervision, oversee the fabrication, as well as manage the administrative and financial performance of each production. 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient in using PRG asset management software
  • Proficient in PRG CRM software (Salesforce)
  • Competent in Scenic construction techniques and fabrication
  • Good working knowledge of Scenic Automated Solutions
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings ie ground plans, sections, scenic elevations and details
  • Expert in Budget Management
  • Expert in Vendor Management
  • Expert in Client Communication
  • Expert in Job Close out process
  • Proficient in Conflict resolution
  • Ability to sketch by hand to communicate ideas or requirements
  • Experience of managing crews, budgets and deadlines 
  • Ability to read and comprehend contract Scope and terms and conditions

 Physical demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 Ibs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and also in both written and verbal forms.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations to receive information and to prepare or inspect site plans, blueprints and drawings.

Travel required

  • Travel up to 50%
  • Must have valid Passport
  • Must have Valid Driver’s License

 Required education and experience

  • Recommended college or higher education degree with a concentration in scenic and automation fabrication and production for the entertainment industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Scenic or Automation Project Management
  • Experience of managing crews, budgets, and deadlines
  • OSHA 30 card preferred

 

The pay range for this position is estimated to be $70,000-85,000. Actual salary to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant combined with locality and alignment with market data.
