Responsibilities

The General Manager - Scenic Operations is responsible for managing all Scenic Technologies Las Vegas branch operations including but not limited to, technical design & engineering, fabrication and finishing departments, test and adjust department, shipping & receiving, warehouse, all QC activities, and asset utilization, ensuring growth and profitability

 

Tactical Responsibilities

  • Implement operational policies, programs and procedures.
  • Lead change efforts to strengthen overall operations of branch.
  • Monitor competitive activity and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure that all tasks assigned are completed on schedule and on budget

 

Financial Management

In conjunction with Leadership Team:

  • Provide guidance in revenue growth, cost management and other financial areas. 
  • Review monthly financials of branch and work with management team to ensure proper business planning procedures are followed.
  • Assist in preparing internal reports, including budget vs. actual analysis, cost vs. return, forecasts, and other reports so staff can meet company goals.
  • Lead all overhead, capital, and project budgets and coordinate with leadership team on the process for both annual and special project budgets.
  • Establish and monitor compliance with purchasing policies and procedures including final approval of purchase orders and expense reports

Organizational Leadership

In conjunction with Leadership Team:

  • Develop, maintain and administer a sound organization plan; initiate improvements as necessary.
  • With Division General Manager, hire, promote, train, develop and motivate strong staff members.
  • Communicate and implement organizational objectives, success criteria, and strategic initiatives.
  • With Division General Manager, prepare and maintain detailed process documents, organizational charts and process flow charts.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and appropriate business practices.
  • Demonstrate examples of outstanding customer service and response.
  • Convene and preside over meetings with functional managers; conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Work with operational team leads to forecast shop capacity and identify pinch-points.  Prepare capacity reports and work back schedules at the inception of the project through project startup.  Work with Project Managers to develop workarounds and take advantage of excess capacity in other areas of the shop if one department or another it at capacity
  • Review and oversee all department schedules with project managers to ensure all project schedules are up to date and accurate.
  • Combine all project schedules into one master schedule to ensure timeline completion of projects.
  • Verify all facilities are maintained and optimized for maximum operational efficiency, ensuring the facility is compliant with all necessary federal/state/county/municipal regulations and that all required licenses are kept current
  • Ensure all facilities are secure from loss and damage
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, adhering to all federal & state OSHA regulations

 People Development

  • With Division General Manager, manage human resource-related issues including recruitment, performance management, salary administration, progressive discipline, training and development.
  • Create and maintain a positive environment, address employee concerns, facilitate team development, and implement training and development initiatives.

Asset Management

  • Create and implement strategies to maximize asset utilization to location
  • Plan and monitor all asset management programs of stock and rental inventory.
  • Prepare capital expenditure (capex) requests utilizing the appropriate models. 

 

Qualifications

  • Equivalent experience:  GM or Local Director
  • 7-10 years of operations and custom fabrication experience, with direct management of people and teams. Experience with custom fabrication in wood, metal, finishing, carving, fabric, rigging and automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and execute other job functions with high attention to detail
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task in fast-paced environment, under pressure, and time constraints

 Competencies 

  • Proven leadership skills in a time pressured environment  
  • Ability to interact with customers on a professional level. 
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, clear verbal and written communication. Fluency in English required. 
  • Must have demonstrated time management skills and be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced multi-task environment with minimal supervision. 
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.   
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in a stressful environment with ability to adapt positively to changes in the work setting with ease. 
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and execute other job functions with high attention to detail. 

 Physical demands 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. 
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  
  • The position requires the ability to see clearly (with or without the aid of glasses or contact lenses) during responsibilities on and off a computer. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms. 

 Travel required 

  • As required. 

 Required education and experience 

  • BS/BA in business administration or relevant field 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel 
  • Experience working in a Windows / MAC OS based environment. 
  • AV industry experience preferred.
