Responsibilities

Summary/objective

Position requires knowledge of multiple disciplines. The Set Electrics Team Leader must be able to continually switch job responsibilities and maintain the product quality and schedule. Bulk of time is spent laying out a design that can be easily implemented with emphasis on being able to take work performed on earlier projects and both re-use and streamline new designs to produce a better product for less cost. Responsible for the final Quality Control Check of all products within discipline that leave the building and supporting all those products in the field.

 

Supervisory responsibilities

Coordination of team members and maintain schedules.

 

Essential functions

  • Interface with TDE, Electrics Designers and Production Electricians to offer suggestions that deliver upon the designer’s intent. Bid/Design/Order/Assemble/Test set electric assemblies (Shared responsibilities with TDE).
  • Interface with Project Management and Operations Management to establish and meet project deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing support to existing base of electrical designs.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Set electric shop personnel.
  • Design control risers and schematics for permanent installations as well as theater applications.
  • Design electrical schematics capable of being fabricated in-house or outsourced.
  • Travel into the field to startup and commission lighting and control packages, as required.
  • Bid/Design/Order/Program/Test automation related control systems geared toward the permanent installation market.
  • Assist in the research and implementation of new Set Electrics Products. 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • ETC line of consoles (additional console manufacturers knowledge a plus)
  • Multi Universe Programming.
  • Working understanding of control protocols.  I.e. DMX, RS232,DALLI etc.
  • Vector Works and/or ACAD experience.
  • Microsoft suite of Office products.
  • Working understanding of light metering tools.
  • Able to lead a team.
  • Communication to members of team and management staff.
  • Pixel Tape Management.
  • LED Driver and Heat Management.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 
  • Specific vision abilities for this job may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus, with or without the use of glasses or contact lenses. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to follow spots and moving lights, loud noises, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. 
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects up to 75 pounds, as necessary.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms. 
  • Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include heat, humidity and cold. 

Travel required

  • Less than 25% of the time. Occasional presence needed on show site.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License.

Required education and experience

  • 5 years designing solutions within discipline.
  • BS/BFA/MFA Technical Theatre, Engineering, or Design, or equivalent experience.
  • CAD fluent.

The pay range for this position is estimated to be $25-45/hour. Actual salary to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant combined with location and alignment with market data.
