Responsibilities

Summary/Objective

 

A Non-CDL driver is responsible for transporting different types of equipment from distribution centers to customer locations using a truck. They are also required to perform inspections before and after a trip and unload cased products from the trailer to customer facilities. These drivers also follow appropriate safety procedures to transport dangerous cargo and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours.

 

Essential functions

 

  • Operate vehicles up to and including 26k GVWR
  • Complete company paperwork as required, enter equipment quantity count when loading and unloading vehicles
  • Participate in the loading and unloading of equipment from vehicle
  • Pull and stage equipment from warehouse for outgoing and incoming orders, including specialized equipment and items needing reach from a lift truck
  • Restock equipment correctly and according to standards set forth by the working location
  • Scan corresponding barcodes for each item, including multiple pieces within one unit
  • Maintain, configuration of orders, clean and maintain of company equipment and resources
  • Assist in general maintenance of rental equipment such as lighting, grip, power distribution  
  • Bringing equipment up to factory specifications before returning to stock
  • May operate assigned warehouse equipment-handling machines in compliance with safety standards and as set forth by the company. Machines include but not limited to pallet jacks, forklifts, hand trucks, and order pickers.  Operator must be trained and certified prior to operating any “powered” equipment handling machines
  • Participate in cross training as assigned, help and guidance for related work when necessary
  • Provide training to new and existing employees, as well as interns as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

 

  • Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations  
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete required training 
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a team 
  • Understand and comprehend traffic signals, signs, right of way rules 
  • Ability to drive long distance during the day and night on all types of roads and in all types of weather 
  • Exposure to noise and vibration 
  • Exposure to dust and diesel fumes 
  • Hours may vary due to operational needs   

 

Competencies 

 

  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment 
  • Verify and complete required documentation and reports 
  • Maintain accurate daily logs 
  • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch (e.g. delays, arrivals, equipment problems), as required 
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures 
  • Able to utilize a smart device to communicate with others along with specific apps related to dispatch, hours of service, and payroll 

 

Physical demands 

 

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of a truck 
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve lifting and moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times a day  

  

Other Requirements 

 

  • No positive drug/alcohol test including pre-employment, random, post-accident or reasonable suspicion 
  • No more than 2 moving traffic violations (including no more than 1 preventable accident) during within the last 36 months 
  • No D.U.I. (Drug or Alcohol) convictions within the last 5 years 
  • No vehicular homicide 
  • No using a vehicle in the commission of a felony 
  • No reckless driving or speeding 
  • No leaving the scene of an accident (body injury or physical damage)

  • As required 

Required education and experience 

 

  • Must possess an active Class C license within the United States 
  • Must meet all other qualifications outlined in Sec 391 of The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations 
  • High school diploma, or equivalent required, or two years of work experience may be substituted for a high school diploma  
  • Must be at least 21 years old 
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time verifiable type driving of units up to and including 26k GVWR 
  • Able to speak and comprehend the English language written and verbal
