The Technician-Moving Lights position is responsible for servicing and maintaining moving lights fixtures and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, examining, repairing, troubleshooting in-coming equipment and preparing out-going equipment.
  • Ability to communicate (phone and email) with internal customers and technical support contacts at manufactures
  • Receive, inspect, test, repair and maintain PRG Lighting fixtures and equipment using set company procedures and guidelines.
  • General repair and maintenance of the equipment, including providing technical support to internal customers as needed.
  • Perform technical diagnosis and identify fixtures requiring further repair.
  • Prepare/prep equipment for orders and facilitate equipment back to rental inventory.
  • Complete the preparation of equipment in assigned area of responsibility in the specified time frame and order set by the Department Lead.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all equipment checked out in assigned area of responsibility.
  • May perform other incidental tasks, as needed.
  • Maintains and enters all factory acceptance testing and QC documentation
  • Maintains accurate parts lists for all related equipment
  • Ensures maintenance policies and procedures are met and related paperwork is in order
  • Ensures all equipment QC deadlines are met
  • Basic understanding of Control software and operation
  • Cross-trains to assist in different departments as required
  • Leads by example to perform work in a safe manner, wear proper PPE, adhere to safety standards and policies, and remain accident free.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized
  • Other duties as assigned or directed

Qualifications

  • Work experience with moving lights with working knowledge of in Vari*Lite; Martin; Robe; and Clay Paky
  • Demonstrated technical/electronics training and/or experience
  • Excellent organizational skills: must have experience in a very busy work environment to be able to keep up with changes to orders.
  • Clear verbal and written communication. Fluency in English required.
  • Knows how to use basic hand tools (hand drill, screwdriver, wrenches etc.).
  • Experience in lighting rental shop and entertainment industry helpful.
  • Computer (Outlook, email, or any inventory system),
  • Organized, problem solving, meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to take directions and assume a high level of responsibility.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers from all levels of the organization in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to provide calm and polite customer service.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor in a stressful environment with ability to adapt positively to changes in the work setting with ease
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of standard electrical procedures for safety, knowledge of standard electronic test equipment and basic A/C, D/C and digital circuit operation.
  • Developed electrical basics & fundamentals in troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Completed Vari-Lite Technical Service Training-Preferred
  • Completed Martin Advanced Training- Preferred
  • Completed GLP Training- Preferred
  • Completed Level one Robe Training- Preferred
  • Completed Intro to grandMA2-Training- Preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize and execute all job-related tasks with thorough attention to detail
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task in fast-paced environment, under pressure, and time constraints
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, including weekends and holidays, when needed
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
