Responsibilities

The Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the legal needs of the west coast business, reporting to SVP, Legal department and Business Affairs, located on the east coast.  The successful candidate will provide support to business and market leaders with effective advice on a variety of issues for our markets and will be directly involved in a variety of complex business transactions, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating a variety of critical contracts. The successful candidate will work closely with our HR department on HR, labor and other employment issues, and manage the work of outside counsel.

  • Advising on contract status, legal risks and legal liabilities associated with different deals which require familiarity with variety of issues relating to: employment, procurement, supplier, purchase, equipment rental with and without services, IT, master agreements, rebates, real estate and compliance.
  • Ability to research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company
  • Support attorney in representing company in legal proceedings (agency type proceedings)
  • Work with HR to advise on California employment issues
  • Review and evaluate cases and lawsuits
  • Advising executives within the company
  • Working alongside other departments within the company
  • Keeps management fully informed of pending issues

Qualifications

  • Three years minimum of experience in the areas of general corporate law, contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • CA Notary License is a plus
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience
  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization and demonstrate a team-oriented work style
  • Ability to effectively handle shifting priorities and adapt to changing demands in a fast- paced, dynamic environment
