    Responsibilities

    The Scenic Estimator has the responsibility of bidding shows and being involved in all internal aspects of the sales cycle including, preparing proposals and distributing information to the bidding team, while acting as the liaison, when required, between the client and all parties involved in the bidding team.  The work will involve client contact with an emphasis on distributing information about the shows to the bidding team, along with our subcontractors, tailored to the client’s vision. This employee may make or participate in the sale and may participate in the execution of projects generated by another sales person or group.  The Scenic Estimator position is responsible for delegating tasks, with the help of the Director of Sales & Estimating, between the Estimator, PM’s, engineering staff, and any other parties designated part of the bidding team.  The Scenic Estimator handles the administrative aspects of gathering information, creating bid numbers in Oracle, pricing, and working with the purchasing agent to keep the vendor pricing guide accurate for their respective projects.  He/she is responsible for keeping the PRG projects for all shows up to date with basic project information.  This employee will be assigned and directed by senior operations and/or Sales staff.  

     

    • Creating Bid Numbers in Oracle
    • Creating Show Folders for New Bids
    • Filing the design & production information in the Show Folder
    • Distributing information about the shows to the bidding team
    • Distributing information to our subcontractors for pricing; ie. Scenic Arts Studios, Digital Printing, etc.
    • Coordinating with the Director of Sales & Estimating to split the bidding tasks up between the Scenic Estimator, PM’s, engineering staff as well as any other people designated part of the bidding team
    • Bidding shows as required
    • Gathers all bid information from the bid team and prepares it in the Bid Sheet for review by the Director of Sales & Estimating
    • Creates Project Proposals for Review by the Director of Sales & Estimating.
    • Working with the Purchasing Agent to keep the Vendor Pricing Guide up to date and current
    • Responsible for keeping the PRG Projects for all shows up to date with basic project information, up thru the “Bid Award” or “Bid Lost”.
    • Assisting the Director of Sales & Estimating with the Sales Calendar
    • Working with the Director of Sales & Estimating to create process improvements in the bidding process
    • Working with the Director of Sales & Estimating to track our competitors business.

    Qualifications

    • Three or more years of experience in scenic construction or similar related field. 
    • Completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited institution of higher learning with a concentration in event construction, business administration, operations management or related fields. 
    • Good knowledge of the function and capability of the theater and entertainment industry. 
    • Good knowledge of current pricing and advancements in event and entertainment technology and the direction of equipment development;
    • Good knowledge of modern office procedures and practices;
    • Good knowledge of common computer productivity tools; such as Microsoft Office and Excel; 
    • Good persuasion skills; the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously within strict deadlines; the ability to learn, use and train other users in PRG proprietary software;  
    • Exceptional sense of priority; Strong organizational skills; Customer Service orientation; Tact; Professionalism.
