    PRG-Scenic Technologies is searching for an experienced Technical Draftsman with experience in mechanical and scenic drafting and fabrication. This is not an Artistic Position. The Technical Draftsman will work with a team of draftsman to create functional mechanical and scenic fabrication drawings for the needs of a variety of markets including Theater, Live Music, Special Events, Television, and Corporate Industrial. Collaborating directly with  the client provided Scenic Designer and team members, the Technical Draftsman will be responsible for creating shop floor fabrication drawing sets, so the client concept and design can be  executed in a manner that will be both effective and profitable. The Technical Draftsman is responsible for developing technical projects under general supervision. May direct technical drafting and engineering team to complete assigned projects in accordance with client specifications, within schedule, and budget limitations. Leads projects overall technical drafting effort toward safe, reliable, and efficient solutions that exceed the client’s functional goals and the company’s expected profit. Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of technical drafting project within area of assigned responsibility:

    Work with Clients Scenic Design Team to bring their bid drafting’s to a fabrication set for the shop floor.



    • Interface with estimating department to prepare project bid and define scope.
    • Interface with client to define overall requirements for each project.
    • Provide concept  and fabrication layouts.
    • Complete all pertinent calculations, analysis, and documentation.
    • Review all safety and reliability concerns.
    • Track project budgets versus cost to guarantee that products meet established profit goals.
    • Assist in departmental planning.
    • Review & Approve bid estimates.
    • Generate accurate bills of materials and highlight long lead items that could delay fabrication.
    • Interface with production departments to ensure all design and quality goals are met.
    • Operate with supervision.



    Extensive experience in Technical Design of machinery and Fabrication of Scenery within the entertainment industry, minimum 5 years of experience

    • 3D AutoCAD experience is a must or other equivalent modeling programs.
    • Computer literacy with Windows, Excel, Word. (Mathcad or equivalents a plus).
    • A wide knowledge base of entertainment scenery and machinery fabrication techniques.
    • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Technical Theater. Equivalent work experience could be a substitute.

    • Strong leadership, organization, and conceptual skills.
    • Cautious, decisive, and self-directed.
