The Director, Freight (North America) is responsible for KPI management, contract and spend management, contract negotiations, Request for Quotes (RFQ)/Request for Proposals (RFP), QBR’s, logistics transformation and cost reduction projects. The Director, Freight will focus on overall relationship with freight partners; driving costs down through benchmarking of rates to drive lower quartile rates; lead RFPs & RFQ’s; negotiate contracts; facilitate and lead QBR’s with partners while ensuring contract compliance; act as escalation point for Regional Supply Chain team members for partner related issues. Additionally, the Director, Freight will drive optimization projects that improve service levels, reduce costs, reduce damages, etc. This role will require a high level of collaboration and influence on a national basis.

  • Work with senior management to develop a business plan and goals for department.

  • Engage, develop and implement best practices
  • Leverage Spend with North America or Regional Transportation Carriers
  • Establish and implement Vendor & Performance Management best practices
  • Lead RFP and RFQ’s from initiation through to operations
  • Responsible for handling contract negotiation.
  • Ensure that freight is moved safely and in a timely manner utilizing appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Understand current business needs in order to determine gaps and weakness that can and identify solutions and improve capabilities.
  • Deliver cost savings to the business through improved processes, lower rates, network optimizations.


  • BS, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or relevant major.
  • Minimum 7 years related Transportation Experience either in Operations, or Vendor Management across all modes of Transportation (Parcel, Heavy Weight Air, Ocean, Truck Load, Less Than Truck Load, etc).
  • Experience in contract negotiations
  • Must have a track record in driving cost savings through process improvements, supplier consolidation, benchmarking, etc. Experience managing operations on a national basis with multiple providers.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
