Responsibilities

The Facility Maintenance Technician may also be referred to as Custodian or Janitor and is responsible for the facility to ensure that rooms, offices and specific warehouse areas are clean and ready for the next day. An employee in this title has responsibility for cleaning and performing minor facility maintenance and repair work.  Does related work as required.

  • Perform cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by management.
  • Maintain interior premises: pickup trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, or use industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors, clean and stock bathrooms, clean windows and perform minor building maintenance and 
  • Maintain outer premises by cleaning entrances and picking up trash around the building parameters as scheduled.
  • Perform and respond to repair calls for such activities as replacing a broken light/door handles, cleaning up a non-toxic spill and minor leaks and removing damaged office furniture. Respond to requests quickly and in a professional manner. Report major damages and oversee repairs.
  • Stock and re-stock office pantry and employee break room kitchen supplies.
  • Keep a running inventory of all cleaning and kitchen/pantry supplies and submit purchasing requests when supplies get low.
  • Secure facility after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm.
  • Adhere to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The work involves the use of equipment, machinery or tools for cleaning and repairing, as well as, use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear. S/he must be able to lift equipment from floor height to over-head while examining, assisting with load in or load out preparing gear for events.  Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include   close vision, distance vision and excellent depth perception. 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Highs school or equivalency diploma.
  • 2-4 years professional experience as a Custodian or Lead Janitor in industrial work environment.
  • Experience with the use of maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
  • Experience with handyman work practices.
  • Familiarity with inventory control.
  • Ability to work required hours.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attendance track record.
  • Knowledge of use of cleaning equipment and appliances, basic electrical safety and disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
  • Organized, problem solving, meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and autonomy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers from all levels of the organization in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to provide calm and polite customer service.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor in a stressful environment with ability to adapt positively to changes in the work setting with ease
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
